Bear Defended Cub After Boys Approach

Grizzly Bear Injures Boy in Yellowstone

Bear Defended Cub After Boy's Approach

A 10-year-old boy was injured by a female grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park on Thursday morning after the bear charged at him in defense of her cub.

The incident occurred on a trail near Old Faithful when the boy and his family approached the bear and her cub. The bear charged at the boy, injuring him on the arm and head. The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Park officials said the bear was acting in defense of her cub, and that the boy and his family should have given the bear more space.

This is the second animal-visitor incident in Yellowstone this week. On Tuesday, a 71-year-old woman was gored by a bison. The woman was visiting the park with her family when she approached the bison and her calf. The bison charged at the woman, goring her and tossing her into the air.

Park officials are reminding visitors to keep their distance from wildlife. Bears and bison are wild animals and can be dangerous. Visitors should stay at least 100 yards away from bears and 25 yards away from bison.
