Edwards' 34 Points Help USA Pass Final Test

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Anthony Edwards scored 34 points to lead Team USA to a 95-88 comeback win over Germany on Saturday night in the team's final exhibition game before the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Edwards, who was named the game's MVP, scored 18 of his points in the second half to help the United States overcome a 10-point deficit. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.

Team USA trailed by 10 points with just over 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Edwards sparked a 15-0 run to give the Americans the lead. Edwards scored 8 points during the run, including a pair of three-pointers.

Germany fought back to tie the game at 88-88 with just over 2 minutes remaining, but Edwards came up with a big play once again. The Georgia native drove to the basket and drew a foul, and he hit both free throws to give the United States a 90-88 lead.

Team USA held on for the 95-88 victory, and the team will now head to China for the FIBA World Cup. The United States is the defending champion, and the team will be looking to win its third straight gold medal.
